YOGA THERAPY

Offering treatment for physical injuries and mental health struggles through the rehabilitative and yogic lens.

What is yoga therapy?

Yoga therapy is a personalized approach to health care healing that adapts the tools of traditional yoga, like movement, breathwork, meditation and mindfulness to meet the unique physical, emotional and mental health needs.  Unlike a regular yoga class, yoga therapy is typically offered one on one or in small groups and is designed to support specific concerns such as chronic pain, anxiety, depression or musculoskeletal health concerns like recovering from an injury.  Yoga therapy can stand alone or work alongside western medicine, providing  an integrative path toward wellness by addressing the deeper causes of imbalance in the body and mind.

While rooted in ancient yogic wisdom, yoga therapy is evidence-informed, grounded in modern science.  After a detailed intake process, practices are tailored specifically for the person, with a focus on creating accessible, daily tools to support healing.  Yoga therapy empowers the person to take an active role in their well being, addressing the whole person, not just symptoms and supporting long term resilience across all areas of life.

What is the difference between yoga therapy and yoga classes?

Yoga classes support overall wellness and personal growth.

Yoga teachers guide individuals or groups through practices that enhance physical health, mental clarity, and a sense of inner connection. They may specialize in various yoga styles and adapt their classes to support general well-being, mindfulness, and spiritual exploration.

Yoga classes are preventative and are able to enhance overall health and fitness.

Yoga therapy in contrast is a targeted healing approach aimed at specific concerns.

The Role of Yoga Therapy

My exploration of whole-person care deepened when I discovered yoga therapy. More than just stretching, yoga therapy integrates breath, mindful movement, meditation, and philosophy to support healing on all levels—physical, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual.

Yoga therapy has helped me personally, and now it’s a cornerstone of my work with clients.
